Selling Ideas & Getting People Interested In Your Product
A lot of people out there think that they can’t sell a product even if their life depended on it. The process of going through a presentation about the product, it’s benefits and quirks tend to induce panic attacks so as a result, most of the time people don’t end up doing as many presentations in a day as they should, if any at all.
If you’re one of those people, don’t take it personally and stomp on your own self esteem because it is a difficult thing to get used to the first few times.
Everyone sucks at the beginning. I sure as heck did, and still do as a matter of fact =P
To be successful, you don’t have to know everything about selling ideas and marketing. Just thought I’d throw that thought out there because so many marketers out there are so anxious about having to know everything before applying what they already know, that they end up wasting a lot of time, and time isn’t something you can get back people. Once it’s gone, it stays gone.
I’ve done this so don’t make the same mistake I did. I was a university student before getting into the whole internet marketing thing so I was so used to “studying” and “learning theory” about selling ideas and marketing because I thought that the more you know, the easier it is to make money.
This is not the case. So don’t try to be perfect. You learn as you apply and make mistakes. Theory can only get you so far.
I’ll be going over a few selling ideas to help ease the anxiety of approaching prospects. It’s easier to learn and apply when you break it down into little chunks so that’s what I’ll do here.
The 4 Basic Selling Ideas Every Marketer Should Know
I’ll first jot down the 4 selling ideas and then I’ll go into detail about each of them after:
1. A target market that is hungry for the product.
2. An valuable offer.
3. A method to approach the target market.
4. A marketing system.
1. Target Market
If you’re going to sell a product, sell something that is in demand. Not only will this make finding potential customers a heck of a lot easier for you, it would be easier to sell the said product since people are frantically searching for a solution to their problem – which would be your product. After having found your target market, narrow it down even more.
For example, you’re in the Health & Wellness Industry. Your target market is “people who want to lose weight”. That’s great but it’s too broad. So narrow it down to say “new mom’s who want to lose weight”, “athletes”, or “teens who are overweight”.
After that, go out and get experience selling so you can then know what selling ideas work best for you and what doesn’t.
2. Valuable offer
People are more likely to buy your product if you offer them upfront value. For example, you could give them a free sample so they can see for themselves how awesome your product is xD
For internet marketers, offer a free video presentation that would help the prospect with what they’re struggling with. To do this, put yourself in their shoes and answer the questions that you think you would ask when you were first starting out.
Offers other than a free video can include a 7 day boot camp email series, or a discount on a product that will help solve their problem. Pretty much just offer info on common problems such as lead generation, or selling ideas.
3. A Method To Approach The Target Market.
Now that you’ve got your target market and upfront offer sorted out, it’s time to discuss a methodical approach.
Now this could vary depending on the person. After all, what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. You could use social media (Facebook, Twitter), article marketing (ezines, blogging), or even pay per click if you have the money for it and desire instant results.
4. A Marketing System
Now I don’t know about you, but I could not think up of my own marketing system for the life of me LOL.
That’s why I’m using an already pre-made system that has enabled a lot of people to get the desired results for their business. I’m telling you the info, training, webinars and pre-made system opt in campaigns are awesome!
